Welcome!

Welcome to the Boeing Employee Amateur Radio Society BEARS web site for Huntington Beach and Seal Beach.  This amateur radio club is located at the Space & Communications division facilities in Huntington Beach near the street intersections of Bolsa Avenue and Bolsa Chica Road.

Although this web site has been constructed to provide another level of communications for our Club members, guests are always welcomed and encouraged to visit this site as often as they wish.  Again, Welcome to the BEARS-HB web site!

The Club

The Boeing Employee Amateur Radio Society meets on the second Tuesday of each month inside the Huntington Beach facility, usually at the EOC (T-44) from 1130AM to 1230PM.

All people are welcome to attend these meetings!  We especially extend an invitation to all present "Hams" and want-to-be "Hams".

This Radio Society provides a forum for members to discuss and participate in matters relating to amateur radio.  Specific activities range from providing emergency communications services for Boeing - and the local public service communities - to radio communication contests, DX"ing, repeater operations, and equipment/antenna construction.

Our group is open to Boeing employees, retirees, subcontractors, and their family members who share a common interest in amateur radio.  Most members are licensed amateur radio operators, aka: "Ham Radio Operators, or "Hams", but having an amateur radio license is not a requirement to membership in our Club.  In fact, some folks join the Club as a means to  learn more about this radio hobby and eventually get a ham radio license (called a "ticket"). Again, however, it should be mentioned that Club membership is limited to Boeing employees, their family members, Boeing retirees, or subcontractors.

The FCC - Federal Communications Commission has issued our club radio station an amateur radio license with the call sign W6VLD.  Our station has a selection of radio communications equipment and antennas to support HF/VHF/UHF, including voice on 2 meter and 440.  Club members also serve as an auxiliary communications backbone team to the company"s local Emergency Preparedness Task Force; which includes a daily radio communications check-in of all members available in the event of an emergency.

If you live in the area, or find yourself visiting the Huntington Beach - Seal Beach area, drop in and give us a call on our repeater!  We would be delighted to hear from you!
